Job summary

Frank and Grossman Landscape Contractors, Inc. is a full-service landscape construction and maintenance company serving the Bay Area. This Estimator role supports continued growth by producing accurate estimates and bids for residential projects.

You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze quotes, and create itemized cost proposals using Excel, while coordinating with clients, vendors, and project teams to ensure bids reflect scope and budget.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in landscape construction estimating/design.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Ability to read and interpret landscape/architectural plans.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take offs and enter data into Excel.
• Analyze subcontractor and material quotes.
• Create proposals using MS Excel.
• Review data to determine material and labor requirements for estimates.
• Manage bid communication including change orders and revisions.
• Consult with clients, vendors, or others to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Review and reconcile contracts to bids and prepare for VP review.
• Conduct pre-construction meetings to inform project status.
• Work with Purchasing to ensure timely orders of site furnishings.
• Review and quantify project changes and maintain logs.
• Meet with clients to review project costs, extras, and change orders.
• Act as liaison between project teams and contractors.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Perform quantity take offs, reading of plans and specifications, and entering information into Excel spreadsheetsRequest/analyze subcontractor and material quotesCreate Proposals using MS ExcelReview data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized listsSelect vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.Compute cost factors and prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids.Manage all bid communication including change orders and revisions.Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.Review, compare and reconcile contracts to ensure that they conform to our bids and prepare them for review by Vice President of Business Development.Conduct pre-construction meetings to inform the Project Manager about project status and transfer vital information.Work with Purchasing Department to ensure site furnishing and specialty items are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.Review and quantify project change orders and revisions.Update and maintain bid, change order, and project management logs.Review subcontracts and change orders produced by Contract Administration and ensure they are executed in a timely fashion.Meet with clients to review and explain project cost, extras and change orders.Act as liaison between project superintendents, project managers, sub-contractors, and general contractors.Required Education, Experience and SkillsMinimum of 3 years experience in landscape construction estimating/design.Excellent math and computer skills, experience with MSOffice, Adobe Acrobat, etc.Ability to read and interpret Landscape/Architectural/Structural plans.Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.Self-motivated, persistent, and willing to ask a lot of questions.An interest in landscaping - if you do not have experience in landscaping, please demonstrate your interest in a cover letter.Physical DemandsStand and sit for prolonged amounts of timeWalk, bend, kneel, and twistTalk and hearFrequently lift and move up to 25 poundsFinger and hand dexterity to feel, handle, and operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and armsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all possible duties, activities, or responsibilities.
