Job description

Estimator - Jewett Construction is a leader in the New Hampshire construction industry, rooted in Southern New Hampshire for over 50 years!

  • Conveniently located headquarters in Southern New Hampshire
  • Just over the Massachusetts border
  • Easily accessible from the Seacoast, Massachusetts, and Southern Maine

We are off to a great start in 2026 and focused on continued growth and with that comes a great opportunity for an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team.

Jewett Construction is a full-service design-build firm contractor located in Fremont, NH, servicing clients in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and Virginia. We are experts in various market sectors, including cannabis facilities, vehicle dealerships, warehouses, multi-family residential, and retail, as well as other construction projects.

The Estimator is responsible for performing project-specific estimating duties and general project development tasks. This position will manage and provide deliverables as defined within the company’s preconstruction contracts for all project budgeting, value-engineering, subcontractor bidding, and final contract value generation. The Estimator will work with department peers and Senior Estimating staff to implement and carry out project-specific strategies that are developed as the project timeline matures. The Estimator will collaborate with the Planning/Design, Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams throughout the preconstruction process to ensure a cohesive and successful project.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • 5+ years of commercial construction estimating and preconstruction experience within a Design-Build, Construction Management at Risk (CM@R), or integrated project delivery environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the full preconstruction process (not simply prepare estimates) including coordination of internal teams, consultants, subcontractors, owners, and design partners from conceptual planning through construction start.
  • Experience managing estimates and deliverable production throughout all phases of design, including conceptual budgeting, schematic design, design development, and construction documents, with a strong understanding of how design evolution impacts cost, schedule, procurement strategy, and project execution.
  • Strong background in conceptual estimating, budgeting, bid solicitation, bid leveling, scope analysis, and value engineering, with the ability to develop accurate and thoughtful pricing strategies in both conceptual and fully documented environments.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple preconstruction assignments while maintaining schedule commitments, budget accuracy, communication flow, and overall process accountability.
  • Skilled at leading collaborative discussions with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and operations personnel, with the ability to build trust, create alignment, and maintain momentum throughout the preconstruction phase.
  • Experienced in reviewing drawings and specifications for constructability, coordination challenges, cost impacts, schedule implications, and project risk mitigation, while proactively identifying practical solutions that support overall project success.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to confidently lead meetings, present estimates and project updates to clients and leadership teams, facilitate decision-making conversations, and produce clear, concise meeting documentation and follow-up action items.
  • Possesses strong critical thinking and sound judgment with the ability to evaluate evolving project conditions, identify the appropriate next steps, and make thoughtful recommendations that balance owner goals, design intent, budget, schedule, and operational realities.
  • Capable of serving as the primary steward of the preconstruction process for assigned projects — bringing clarity, accountability, professionalism, and leadership to both internal and external teams while maintaining a highly approachable demeanor.
  • Recognized as dependable, collaborative, proactive, and team-oriented, with a high level of professionalism, integrity, and personal accountability. Able to lead through influence, maintain composure in fast-paced environments, and foster strong working relationships across all project participants.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment that values initiative, communication, lateral decision-making, and a strong sense of ownership over project outcomes and client experience.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful industry experience.
