Job summary

Satterfield and Pontikes Construction, Inc. is expanding its Dallas team and seeks an Estimator or Senior Estimator to lead bids for commercial projects across Texas. This role focuses on takeoffs, pricing, subcontractor outreach, and bid day readiness for projects ranging from $20–$500 million.

Opportunities for advancement exist as the company grows. You will work on conventional bids and conceptual estimates, coordinating with Project Management to ensure bid accuracy and robust execution

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an Estimator with a commercial general contractor.
• Experience estimating projects between $20-500 mil.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimator on individual projects including takeoffs, sub-solicitations, pricing, bid summaries, GC’s and final bid day preparations.
• Prepare conventional bids and conceptual estimates to owners as assigned.
• Review quantities, production rates, material quotes and totals for pricing prior to bid day and on bid day.
• Review bid requirements thoroughly; prepare subcontractor bid packages.
• Ensure that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day.
• Complete postmortem review of bid projects.
• Turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner.
• Assist in receiving and evaluating subcontractor and major material quotations prior to bid day and on bid day.
• Prepare and make estimate transfer to budget.
• Oversee and assist Project Management with significant project change estimates including change orders and construction claims.
• Develop and maintain cost history on different types of projects.
• Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors.
• Develop RFI’s and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage and shows interest.
• Perform comprehensive bid day analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.
• Create bid lists that fit scope of job and ensure right subs for the project.
• Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.

Due to growth Satterfield and Pontikes Construction is adding an Estimator or Senior Estimator to our Dallas team. As an Estimator/Senior Estimator you will play a strategic role in our company’s success. You will focus on bidding commercial projects all across TX in the $20-600 mil range either independently or as a team. Our company is in growth mode so not only do we offer stability but over the next several years there is going to be a ton of opportunity for advancement.

Requirements:

The role you will play:

• Work as lead estimator on individual projects including takeoffs, sub-solicitations, pricing, bid summaries, GC’s and final bid day preparations
• Prepare conventional bids and conceptual estimates to owners as assigned
• Review quantities, production rates, material quotes and totals for pricing prior to bid day and on bid day
• Responsible for review of project bid’s accuracy and communication of construction techniques and strategies used in bid preparation on successful bids with Project Management prior to project commencement
• Review bid requirements thoroughly; prepare subcontractor bid packages
• Ensure that we have the proper coverage from subcontractors on bid day
• Complete postmortem review of bid projects
• Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner
• Assist in receiving and evaluating subcontractor and major material quotations prior to bid day and on bid day
• Prepare and make estimate transfer to budget
• Oversee and assist Project Management with the preparation of significant project change estimates including change orders and construction claims
• Contribute to and maintain Sub/Vendor database
• Develop and maintain cost history on different types of projects
