Job summary

The Huseman Group in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Senior Estimator who will convert plans, specifications, market data, and subcontractor input into budgets, estimates, and strategies that set projects up for success.

You’ll develop conceptual budgets, perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate proposals, identify risks, and collaborate with project partners to deliver clear estimates from preconstruction through handoff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in detailed quantity takeoffs and developing material and labor costs from drawings and specs.
• Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Microsoft Excel.
• Working knowledge of cost control, project risk, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, numerical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, GMPs, and competitive bids for commercial construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for complete scope coverage.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, project risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Present estimate summaries, assumptions, clarifications, and value-engineering recommendations.
• Maintain current cost data, market pricing, and estimating tools.
• Support project handoffs from preconstruction to operations.
• Use Sage Estimating and digital takeoff platforms such as Autodesk Takeoff or On-Screen Takeoff.
• Conduct site visits as needed.
