Job summary

VALCOURT EXTERIOR BUILDING SERVICES OF GEORGIA LLC is seeking a mid-level Estimator to prepare accurate bids for assigned projects in the Atlanta area. You will review drawings, perform quantity takeoffs, build pricing, and coordinate input from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive and profitable proposals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for assigned projects in line with branch standards, bid requirements, and margins.
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to understand scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and apply labor, material, and subcontractor pricing.
• Solicit, organize, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure coverage and competitiveness.
• Prepare bid forms, inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications.
• Coordinate with sales and operations to confirm field conditions and schedule constraints.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews, handoff meetings, and post-bid follow-up.
• Maintain organized estimate files, pricing records, takeoff documentation, and bid history.

Job description

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for assigned bid opportunities. This role reviews bid documents, performs quantity takeoffs, builds pricing, coordinates vendor and subcontractor input, and supports the branch’s ability to pursue profitable work. The Estimator works under the direction of the Pre-Construction Manager or Senior Estimator and collaborates with sales and operations to ensure bids are aligned with scope, schedule, and customer expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare estimates for assigned projects in accordance with branch standards, bid requirements, and margin expectations.Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents to understand scope and identify missing information.Perform quantity takeoffs and apply appropriate labor, material, equipment, production, and subcontractor pricing assumptions.Solicit, organize, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing to confirm scope coverage and pricing competitiveness.Prepare bid forms, proposal language, inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and clarifications for review.Coordinate with sales and operations to confirm field conditions, schedule considerations, access constraints, and project execution needs.Participate in internal estimate reviews, handoff meetings, and post-bid follow-up.Maintain organized estimate files, pricing records, takeoff documentation, and bid history.Work Authorization RequirementsMust be eligible to work in the United StatesQualifications / Experience LevelMid-level estimating role typically requires proven experience preparing estimates with moderate supervision.Working knowledge of plan reading, specifications, quantity takeoffs, labor/material pricing, proposal preparation, and bid documentation.Ability to manage assigned bid opportunities, coordinate pricing input, identify scope gaps, and participate in estimate reviews and project handoffs.Progression from this role is demonstrated through increased independence, bid complexity, customer interaction, and leadership of less experienced team members.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
