Job summary

PCL Construction, Inc. in Tempe, Arizona is seeking an Estimating Student to support the estimating team during May–August. You will assist with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation and document control while gaining exposure to real projects.

The role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and a path toward future opportunities within PCL’s construction and estimating teams, in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Effective communication verbally and in writing with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and perform quantity take offs.
• Must be authorized to work in the US; PCL will not sponsor an employment visa.
• Available to work in Tempe, AZ full-time from May to August.

Responsibilities

• Review and perform quantity survey assignment with lead estimator.
• Bid document control.
• Performs bid day assignments.
• Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping.
• Visits job sites periodically.
• Develops relationships with subcontractors.
• Other duties as assigned.

As a Estimating Student in Tempe, Arizona, you will contribute to our team by:

• Review and perform quantity survey assignment with lead estimator

• Develops relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Desire a career in construction Project Management, Field Supervision, or Estimating.
• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Any experience using the following; On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel and Word, Revit, Acrobat, and other computer software
• Required to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs
• Must be authorized to work in the US *PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g. H1-B, etc.) for this position
• 18 years of age or older
• Available to work in Los Angeles, CAfull time from May to August
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party.
