Civil West, part of the PCL Family, is seeking an Estimating Student in Long Beach, California. You will work alongside experienced estimators to analyze project opportunities, develop cost estimates, and influence pursuit success for community-focused projects.

As an Estimating Student, you will contribute by reviewing quantities, handling bid documents, and visiting sites as needed, using BEST Estimating software to support subcontractor relationships and bid processes.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate's or bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Experience with takeoff and estimation concepts is a plus, and you should be able to read drawings and specs.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with project personnel and subcontractors.

Responsabilités

• Review and perform quantity survey assignments with the lead estimator.
• Bid document control and handling bid day assignments.
• Perform sub-trade bid reviews and recapping.
• Visit job sites periodically to gather information.
• Use in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating).
• Develop relationships with subcontractors and assist other duties as assigned.

As an Estimating Student in Long Beach, California, you will contribute to our team by:

Qualifications

• Desire a career in construction Project Management, Field Supervision, or Estimating.
• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Any experience using the following; On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel and Word, Revit, Acrobat, and other computer software
• Required to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs
• Must be authorized to work in the US *PCL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g. H1-B, etc.) for this position
• 18 years of age or older
• Available to work in Los Angeles, CAfull time from May to August
• Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a substance abuse test conducted by a third party.
