Job summary

ThinkingAhead is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead estimating and preconstruction for electric power construction projects. The role calls for experience with transmission, distribution, substations, utilities, or related electrical infrastructure and the ability to review drawings and bid documents.

This newly created position offers a path to build a dedicated estimating function within a growing organization, with in-office work based in DeForest, WI or Commerce City, CO.

Qualifications

• Previous electric power estimating experience required.
• Experience with transmission, distribution, substations or related power infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specs and technical documentation.
• Experience developing detailed labor, material, equipment and subcontractor estimates.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support estimating efforts for electric power construction projects.
• Prepare and review detailed project estimates, budgets and bid packages.
• Perform and oversee quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, material, equipment and subs.
• Review project drawings, specifications, scopes and bid documents.
• Coordinate with project management, operations, preconstruction, engineering and field teams.
• Maintain detailed estimating information and cost data.
• Support bid reviews and estimate handoffs to project teams.
• Help establish estimating processes, standards and tools.
• Contribute to development of a dedicated electric power estimating team.
