Job summary

Royal Electric is seeking an Estimating Intern for the Long Beach Office starting Summer 2027. You'll support the Estimating team with takeoffs, BOMs, and bid requests, gaining hands-on construction industry experience.

Ideal candidates are currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management or Engineering, proficient in Excel, detail-oriented, with strong communication. No fieldwork; desk-based role with mentorship from senior estimators.

Qualifications

• Pursuing higher education in CM, engineering or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Effective communication with estimating team to produce a single estimate.
• Preferred: experience with Bluebeam or Live Count.

Responsibilities

• Read plans and perform quantity takeoffs.
• Outreach to sub-contractor and vendors.
• Review technical specifications for project requirements.
• Build a bill of materials for vendor quotes.
• Coordinate bid progression with lead estimator to ensure take offs, quotes, and BOMs are ready in a timely manner.
• Learn the Estimating life cycle from senior estimators.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within team environments.
• Desk-based role with no fieldwork.
• Maintain strong focus and attention to detail.
