Job summary

Royal Electric Company in Dallas invites applications for an Estimating Intern for Summer 2027. You will support the Estimating team by reading plans, performing quantity takeoffs, and building bills of materials for vendor quotes.

You’ll collaborate with lead estimators, gain hands-on experience across the estimating lifecycle, and develop proficiency in Excel and related tools while learning how bids progress from concept to quote in a supportive office setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing higher education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with the Estimating department to create a single good estimate.
• Preferred: Experience in Bluebeam or Live Count; knowledge of Electrical/Low-Voltage scope of work

Responsibilities

• Reading Plans and performing quantity takeoffs
• Sub-contractor & Vendor outreach
• Review technical specifications for project requirements
• Build a bill of materials for vendor quotes
• Coordinate with lead estimator about bid progression to ensure take offs, quotes, and bill of materials are ready in a timely manner
• Learn about the Estimating life cycle from experienced electrical estimators
