Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, client-focused law firm seeking a professional and highly organized Legal Assistant / Office Assistant in Morgantown, WV.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with legal office, administrative assistant, client service, or professional office experience who enjoys working with people and keeping detailed information organized. The Legal Assistant will support attorneys and clients with estate planning, probate, trust administration, Medicaid, case management, legal documents, and general office operations.
Previous law firm experience is preferred, but candidates with excellent administrative skills, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Legal Assistant Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout their legal matters.
- Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and assist with new client intake.
- Prepare, organize, scan, file, and maintain legal documents and electronic client files.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys handling estate planning, probate, trust administration, Medicaid, elder law, and related legal matters.
- Coordinate appointments, deadlines, court filings, and client communications.
- Draft routine legal forms, letters, and correspondence for attorney review.
- Prepare estate planning binders, signing documents, and other client materials.
- Maintain accurate and organized client records using legal case management software.
- Communicate professionally with financial institutions, government agencies, county offices, creditors, and other third parties.
- Track important information and help ensure deadlines and follow-up items are completed.
- Handle sensitive and confidential client information with professionalism and discretion.
- Provide exceptional client service throughout the legal process.
- Support attorneys and staff with general administrative and office duties as needed.
Legal Assistant Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or comparable professional experience preferred.
- Previous legal assistant, legal secretary, law office, or administrative experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat or Foxit PDF is a plus.
- Ability to quickly learn legal case management software and office systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Professional, dependable, and proactive.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and other team members.
Preferred Legal Experience
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
- Estate planning
- Probate
- Trust administration
- Elder law
- Medicaid-related legal matters
- Legal document preparation
- Client intake
- Court filings
- Law firm case management
Legal experience is preferred, but candidates with a strong administrative, office management, client service, or executive support background and a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
