Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with estate planning and related matters from intake to completion.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and organize documents and client materials.

  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical client files.

Estate Planning Paralegal / Legal Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Estate Planning Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our team in Windsor, Colorado.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with attorneys and clients and is confident managing legal documents, coordinating client matters, and keeping files and deadlines organized. The ideal candidate has experience in estate planning, probate, trusts, or a related area of law, but we are also open to a strong legal assistant with transferable experience and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Do
  • Assist attorneys with estate planning and related legal matters from intake through completion.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and organize legal documents, correspondence, and client materials.
  • Assist with preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other estate planning documents.
  • Coordinate client meetings, document signings, and follow-up communications.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients regarding case status, documents, appointments, and next steps.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic and physical client files.
  • Track deadlines, appointments, outstanding documents, and follow-up items.
  • Assist with probate and estate administration matters as needed.
  • Prepare documents and materials for attorney review.
  • Coordinate with clients, financial institutions, courts, and other third parties when appropriate.
  • Enter and maintain accurate information in the firm's case management and document systems.
  • Assist with billing, time entry, and other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Protect confidential client information and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Support attorneys and the broader team with additional legal and administrative projects as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant preferred.
  • Experience in estate planning, probate, trusts, or elder law strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proofreading ability.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new legal technology and case-management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with an attorney and legal team.
  • High level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant legal education is a plus.
