Albemarle Estate at Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a hands-on Gardener to maintain the estate grounds, beds, borders, and seasonal plantings across more than 1,300 acres of vineyards, formal gardens, and historic landscapes. This full-time outdoor role involves pruning, mulching, irrigation support, and working with the grounds team to deliver welcoming spaces for guests year round.

Qualifications

• Degree in horticulture or demonstrable experience in horticultural management.
• Trade certifications or equivalent in related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform core horticultural tasks across estate grounds: planting, watering, weeding, pruning, edging, mulching, and general upkeep.
• Support care, installation, and renewal of garden beds, borders, and specialty plant areas.
• Maintain interior and exterior plant health through routine monitoring and corrective care.
• Assist with greenhouse operations for vegetables, annuals, and perennials, including watering schedules and propagation.
• Safely operate and maintain tools and equipment; report maintenance needs to prevent deterioration.
• Collaborate with the grounds team on seasonal projects and event preparations.

Education

Location: Trump Winery in Charlottesville, VA - 15 minutes south of Charlottesville city limits, 20 minutes north of Scottsville.

Wage: $18/hr to $22/hr- based on experience + excellent benefits

Hours: FT - Monday thru Friday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Perform core horticultural tasks including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, edging, mulching, and general landscape upkeep across estate and property grounds.
• Support the care, installation, and renewal of garden beds, perennial borders, annual displays, and specialty plant areas.
• Maintain interior and exterior plant health through routine monitoring, basic diagnostics, and appropriate corrective care.
• Assist with greenhouse operations for vegetable production, annuals, and perennials, including watering schedules, propagation, and seasonal preparation.
• Safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery; report or address maintenance needs to prevent deterioration of grounds and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with the grounds team on seasonal projects, landscape improvements, and special assignments as directed.
• Participate in weather-related or seasonal tasks such as snow removal, storm cleanup, and event-related grounds preparation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in horticulture, or demonstrable experience in horticultural management, or trade certifications or work equivalent in related field
• Must work well in an environment of changing priorities, be a quick learner, ability to multi-task, maintain a professional demeanor under pressure, ability to solve problems in a creative manner
• Physically able to bend over, kneel, or stand for extended periods of time, lift, push, pull objects of up to 70 pounds in weight
• Ability to work in all types of weather, from heat to wind to wet and cold
