Legacy Law Firm, P.C. is opening a new Johnston, IA office and seeking an attorney focused on elder law and estate planning.

Join a boutique practice delivering sophisticated counsel to families, business owners, farmers, and seniors, with mentoring and remote collaboration with a Sioux Falls team. The role emphasizes leadership in developing client relationships, trusts and advanced planning, and contributing to the new office's workflow and service standards in Des Moines area.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of elder law planning experience, including trusts.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Iowa.
• Leadership ability and the drive to manage your cases without daily oversight.
• A desire to build a long-term career.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
• Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals, families, and farmers to design customized plans.
• Advise clients on elder law issues such as long-term care and Medicaid planning.
• Advise clients on special needs planning, guardianships and conservatorships.
• Handle probate, trust administration, guardianship, and conservatorship matters.
• Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related estate planning documents.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on advanced elder law and Medicaid strategies.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and professional referral partners.
• Help build the Johnston office's legal workflow and client service standards.
• Guide support staff.
• Stay in close contact with the Sioux Falls team so both offices run consistently.
