Job summary

Legacy Law Firm, P.C. in Johnston, IA seeks a talented attorney specializing in estate planning and elder law to join a growing boutique practice.

You will work with individuals, families, and agricultural clients, mentored remotely by Sioux Falls attorneys, and help develop the Johnston office from day one. Responsibilities include designing customized plans, advancing elder law strategies, and coordinating with senior attorneys to deliver exceptional client service across both offices.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of elder law planning experience, including trusts.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Iowa.
• Leadership ability and the drive to manage your cases without daily oversight.
• A desire to build a long-term career.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
• Strong attention to detail and outstanding organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals, families, and farmers to design customized plans.
• Advise clients on elder law issues such as long-term care and Medicaid planning.
• Advise clients on special needs planning, guardianships and conservatorships.
• Handle probate, trust administration, guardianship, and conservatorship matters.
• Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related estate planning documents.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on advanced elder law and Medicaid strategies.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and professional referral partners.
• Help build the Johnston office's legal workflow and client service standards.
• Guide support staff.
• Stay in close contact with the Sioux Falls team so both offices run consistently.
