Job summary

Genomics England is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design and optimize scalable data pipelines handling large-scale genomic and clinical data. You will work with AWS cloud technologies, implement data quality, lineage and governance, and collaborate across engineering, QA, and product teams to deliver secure, reliable data services that support innovative healthcare research.

The role emphasizes responsible data handling, secure transfer, and enabling analytics and visualization

Qualifications

• Hands-on data engineering with scalable pipelines, ETL/ELT
• Experience handling healthcare/genomic data with security and governance
• Proficient in Python, testing, CI/CD and infrastructure as code

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines from ingestion to delivery
• Work with clinical/genomic data ensuring data lineage and de-identification
• Develop data models and storage solutions for performance and security
• Implement data quality, tests, automation and observability across pipelines
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, architecture and product teams
• Support machine learning and data visualisation by providing trusted data
