Job summary

Phoenix Union High School District seeks an ESS Specialized Programs teacher to support students with disabilities in dedicated classrooms and community-based settings. You will design specialized instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with SLP, OT, PT, nurses, and families to implement IEPs and ensure access to appropriate curricula and transition services.

The role emphasizes teamwork, data-driven instruction, and adherence to district policies in CBT, THRIVE, and STRIVE programs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Experience with students with disabilities including intellectual disabilities and autism.
Knowledge of development and implementation of special services and related documents per laws.
Experience training staff to implement services and paperwork.
Arizona Standard Secondary Teaching Certificate and Special Education certification required.

Responsibilities

Designs, plans, and provides specially designed instruction based on IEPs.
Collaborates with professionals to implement accommodations and modifications based on IEPs.
Coordinates with staff to ensure services are provided per IEP.
Creates high-quality instruction with adaptations for cognitive variabilities.
Assesses student learning using formal and informal methods.
Maintains records such as IEP goals, progress reports and communications.
Leads annual IEP meetings and monitors progress.
Collaborates with team to review data and apply new strategies.
