Job summary

PHOENIX UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT (PXU) is seeking an ESS Teacher – S.U.C.C.E.S.S. to support students with significant behavioral needs and cognitive variabilities in a specialized setting designed for exceptional learners.

The teacher will implement individually designed instruction per IEP, collaborate with administrators, behavior specialists, social workers, families and other professionals to promote student success, and monitor progress to ensure compliance with timelines and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Arizona Standard Secondary Teaching Certificate required.
• Special Education certification required.

Responsibilities

• Designs, plans, and provides specially designed instruction per IEP.
• Collaborates on accommodations and modifications based on IEPs.
• Coordinates with staff to provide related services per IEP.
• Models effective behavior supports per Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
• Supports FBA by gathering data and identifying trends in behavior.
• Designs instruction for behavior-supported students using evidence-based curricula.
• Assesses student learning using formal and informal methods.
• Uses data to improve instruction and place students in programs.
• Maintains required records and deadlines for IEP paperwork.
• Leads annual IEP meetings and prepares progress notes.
• Communicates with parents about student progress.
• Supervises students on campus and at school-sponsored events.
• Directs instructional assistants to promote positive behaviors.
• Attends ongoing professional development.
