District Exceptional Student Services (ESS) - Surprise, AZ is seeking an ESS Specialist to provide instructional support and ensure program compliance for students with disabilities. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, IEP/504 teamwork, and adherence to federal/state requirements.

The position requires a valid AZ teaching certificate, a Bachelor's in Special Education, and a fingerprint clearance card.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or related field
• Valid Arizona teaching certificate
• Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
• Five (5) years teaching experience
• Knowledge of Federal and state laws regulating special education services
• Knowledge of IDEA and ADA laws and regulations

Responsabilités

• Provide professional and technical program knowledge to include the planning, organization and implementation of special education compliance and regulatory requirements
• Provide recommendations to staff with regard to special education programs and related services in accordance with P.L. 94-142, P.L. 99-457, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, FERPA, and Arizona State Statutes, Rules and Regulations and judicial decisions
• Provide recommendations to staff with regard to gifted education programs and related services in accordance with P.L. 15-203, 15-761, 15-763, 15-1201, and 15-779
• Research and provide professional development to staff in federal and state laws and district policies governing special education through multiple modalities
• Assist department staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining a district program of induction and support for new teachers
• Serve as project leader for various department projects and programs
• Provide ongoing instructional coaching to special education teachers and staff
• Provide guidance in support of IEP/504 teams in the preparation and facilitation of high profile meetings
• Assist staff in developing special education master schedule by applying appropriate mapping
• Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors
• Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
• Perform other job related duties as assigned
