Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking a Special Education (Highly Qualified) to support students in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The ideal candidate will assist the teacher in implementing special education plans and work directly with students to promote their learning and growth.

This part-time position requires a high school diploma and the ability to meet the Highly Qualified standards set by the state. Responsibilities include preparing educational materials and maintaining student data.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent to qualify.
  • Must meet Highly Qualified requirements set by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of special education instructional plans.
  • Collect observational data about students and report findings.
  • Participate in district training programs as required.

Skills

Ability to perform tasks and work with children, staff and parents.
Physical capability to lift and attend to physical needs of students as required.

Education

Job Summary

To inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning by supporting students and assisting the special education teacher in the operation and function of the classroom. To work with individual or small groups of students as assigned.

Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Assist in implementation of the students' special education instructional plans, including physical and behavioral management.
  • Implement and follow through on the students' individual plans in all settings in which the program is delivered.
  • Collect observational data about assigned students in various school settings and report to supervising teacher.
  • Assist in the preparation, collection and maintenance of educational materials and equipment.
  • Assist with staffings, conferences and other special meetings as requested by supervising teacher.
  • Complete educational forms, reports and other student-related data relevant to the individual students in the special education program as directed.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the team and approved by the Special Education Coordinator/Special Education Supervisor.
  • Participate in district training program prior to and during employment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicants must be considered Highly Qualified (HQ) to work as a special education paraprofessional by their start date per the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Highly Qualified requirement: two years of study at an institution of higher education (minimum 60 semester credits) OR an Associate’s (or higher) degree (AA, AS, AAS, or higher) OR a passing score on the ParaPro, ParaEducator or ParaPathways Assessment. The District will pay for the assessment.
