Job summary

Mead Lumber Company is seeking a Truss Assembler to work on a production line constructing roof, floor, and wall trusses. You will perform hands-on assembly following specifications, quality standards, and safety procedures, in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires lifting up to 75 lbs, reading a tape measure, and using tools such as nail guns, hammers, forklifts, and saws. Prior truss or framing experience is preferred, with strong teamwork and reliability.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Read a tape measure to sixteenth of an inch with accuracy.
• Experience in a truss or panel plant or framing residential buildings preferred.
• Knowledge of construction tools and equipment (nail gun, hammer, forklift, press machine, saws).
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; coachable by team members and leadership.
• Must lift up to 75 lbs; perform physical labor in a fast-paced, loud environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Review layout and cut sheets to verify materials, lengths, and sizes.
• Set up jigs with team members for each truss in pre-production.
• Apply correct plate sizes per CAD specifications.
• Check truss quality: heel height, seat cuts, depths, spans, squareness.
• Assemble trusses with assigned team and meet productivity goals.
• Ensure compliance with Truss Plate Institute (TPI) standards and regulations.
• Bundle and stack trusses; verify orders and move finished products to yard.
