Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in TESOL with at least three years teaching adults in immigrant populations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with BEST Plus 3.0 or similar language assessment tools is desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; strong data management and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide English language instruction to adults Mon–Thu mornings (12 hours/week).
  • Tailor curriculum for multiple levels using contextualized materials relevant to student life (parenting, healthcare, finances, job development).
  • Administer BEST Plus pre- and post-tests and report achievement results.
  • Plan daily lessons, track attendance, evaluate progress, and refer students to services as needed.

Job description

Morning (in-person) position available! Reporting directly to the Program Director, ESOL, the Instructor will implement the ESOL program curriculum. The Instructor is responsible for delivering courses, tracking attendance, tailoring the curriculum for different levels of instruction, developing lesson logs, and students’ progress reports.

The Instructor will teach in-person on Monday through Thursday from 9 am – 12 pm (12 hours per week). Fall Session: from September 21 – November 25, 2026. Winter Session: January 11 – March 18, 2027. Spring Session: April 19 – June 24, 2027.

An opportunity may be available to teach an additional class. At an hour rate $45 and will be compensated 3 hours prep time per week.

The Instructor is expected to be an active member of the Adult and Immigrant Services team and demonstrate a strong commitment to the organization’s overall commitment to community building.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation

  • Provide English language instruction to adults in a program operating Monday – Thursday mornings, 12 hours per week.
  • Teach courses using a contextualized curriculum that is relevant to student life experiences such as parenting, health care, finances, and job development.
  • Administer BEST Plus pre- and post-test to all students and report on achievement results.

Planning, Evaluation, and Referral

  • Tailor the curriculum for each level of instruction to match student needs as reflected in pre-test scores on BEST Plus test.
  • Develop daily lesson plans, provide instruction, evaluate academic progress of individual students on a scheduled basis, and track relevant data (attendance).
  • Refer students to designated staff or partners for help with assessing career options, finding employment, applying for jobs, advancing their education, attaining legal immigrant status, and obtaining childcare.

Training and Development

  • Attend mandatory professional development trainings and meet regularly with supervisor and other staff members to share best practices and address challenges.(18 hours per FY27 if available.)

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in TESOL, with a minimum of three years of experience teaching the adult immigrant population.
  • Experience with BEST Plus 3.0 test is desired, as is familiarity with additional language assessment tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and accurate data, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse cultures and backgrounds of participants.

Schedule: The instructor will teach in-person, Monday – Thursday, from 9 am – 12 pm. An opportunity may be available to teach an additional class.
