Job description

English Language Learner Education Technician (Ed Tech II)

Biddeford High School is seeking a position. Starting ASAP. The High School serves grades 8‑12. We expect staff and students to embrace our three key pillars of learning: discovery, educating the whole child, and supporting them with a positive culture and climate.

Essential Functions
  • Supports and administers ESOL curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives in person and virtual.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning in partnership with assigned Teacher.
  • Support lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in English grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, composition, vocabulary and proper word usage, word denotations and connotations, creative writing, independent thinking, communication and speaking.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students’ needs, including students with special needs.
  • Pushes into classrooms to support English Language Learners in all classes.
Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus 3 years of post‑secondary education (60 credits). Fluency in a second language preferred but not required.

Experience

Successful prior classroom experience or working with students learning the English language for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.
