Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) invites applications for an English Language Training (ELT) Instructor in Wichita, KS. You will deliver integrated ELT instruction to non-native speakers, plan curricula, and support student recruitment, attendance, and assessment to promote employability and success.

You will work with the Adult Education Coordinator, coordinate with volunteers, and document progress while maintaining compliance with funding and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, social services, or related field.
• English language instruction certification required.
• Experience teaching ESL; 2+ years ESL teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with immigrant populations and adults preferred.
• Experience with workforce and job training programs preferred.
• Strong written and oral English language skills.
• TESOL certification preferred; online instruction experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver integrated ELT instruction: Receive client referrals and conduct initial client assessments.
• Perform comprehensive assessments on each student to establish quality assurance, including pre-tests and post-tests.
• Plan, prepare, maintain, and update curricula and lesson plans for mixed-level classes.
• Integrated ELT combines English language lessons with basic communication, job skills, digital literacy and life skills.
• Tune lesson activities to meet student needs across a range of English proficiency levels.
• Utilize and oversee community volunteers as classroom assistants, managing breakout groups.
• Complete documentation to ensure compliance with funding and licensing requirements.
• Evaluate clients’ English language skills to evaluate progress.
• Compile data, perform data entry, and assemble information for reports.
• Document attendance and student progress; recruit and retain students.
• In-person and online instruction; manage attendance data reports to partners.
