Job summary

Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ is seeking a Teacher of English as a Second Language to support English language learners across grade levels and help students grow academically and socially.

The position requires a NJDOE Standard Certificate (CE/CEAS) or CEAS as determined, with a bachelor’s degree preferred. The teacher will plan instruction, assess progress, communicate with families, and participate in district initiatives during a ten-month term with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• NJDOE Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS as deemed by NJDOE.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study meeting students' needs, interests, and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress regularly and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic communication skills as per district/state requirements.
• Provides individual and group instruction to adapt curriculum for varying abilities.
• Maintains appropriate classroom behavior to ensure a productive environment.
• Coordinates with aides and paraprofessionals and communicates with parents about student progress.
