Job summary

Lehigh Carbon Community College invites applications for a Noncredit Integrated Education and Training (IET) instructor to deliver a Start Your Own Business course for ESL students. Instructors report to the Director of Literacy, ESL, and Student Success.

The class includes a customer service certification, a business plan project, and a final student presentation. The role requires co-instruction with an ESL colleague, strict record-keeping, ongoing professional development, and clear program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or appropriate field.
• Experience working with a diversity of people in an educational setting.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and to work cooperatively in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Co‑instruct course with an ESL Instructor where students earn a customer service certification, create a business plan and present to an audience
• Maintain student work and hand in samples to the literacy office
• Complete professional development training in accordance with LCCC standards and grant
• Maintain clear records on programs, both for students and for program review
• Plan teaching strategies and activities that are appropriate for adult learners
• Provide linkage for students to progress from one educational program to another
• Aid in meeting special needs of students
• Assist the Student Success Coach in identifying students in need of barrier or transition assistance
• Conduct informal assessments and make recommendations about student’s class placement
• Motivate and encourage students
• Keep current on adult education by attending conferences, professional development trainings, and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned by the assistant director
