Job summary

Heritage Academy Charter Schools Inc San Antonio Campus in San Antonio, TX, seeks an ESL Aide to support teachers and oversee ESL learners. Starting date is immediate; salary range listed below.

Responsibilities include assisting with instructional programs, monitoring progress, and helping implement lesson plans under supervision. Candidates with 6+ months school experience and an Associate’s degree or higher are preferred; ESL/Bilingual background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Passion for children.
• Ability and patience to work interactively with children.
• Basic knowledge of federal and state education laws.
• Computer literate.
• Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to learn and implement teaching curriculum software programs and instruct students.
• Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to travel as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist ESL teacher or ESL coordinator in all areas of work.
• Implement instructional program and lesson plans under the supervisor of ESL Coordinator or ESL teacher.
• Assist with understanding assessments.
• Assist teachers in checking daily goals to ensure work is being completed.
• Motivate students for maximum learning.
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to build students’ self-esteem, and promote further success.
• Praise students, compliment them and encourage them in order to build character.
• Be able to facilitate activities that promote speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English.
• Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education

Associate’s degree or above

High School Diploma and 48 hours of higher education

THEA or other appropriate examination

Paraprofessional Educator course provided by Master Teacher

Training of Paraprofessionals provided by Regional Service Centers
