Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks a Certified ESL Coach to support elementary and secondary teachers in applying effective EL pedagogy and differentiated strategies for learners at varied proficiency levels.

You will collaborate with staff, analyze data to tailor instruction, and lead professional development to enhance ESL implementation and student outcomes. Must have a Virginia ESL endorsement or eligibility and a bachelor's degree in education.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of second language acquisition pedagogy and ESL best practices.
• Ability to analyze student data to plan instruction and monitor progress.
• Experience in coaching teachers through co-planning, co-teaching and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching to ESL and classroom teachers to implement EL-focused goals.
• Collaborate with teachers to analyze data and plan instruction.
• Lead professional development on ESL pedagogy and instructional planning.
• Maintain documentation on coaching, observations, and meetings.
• Mentor new ESL teachers and initiate first-year coaching cycles.
• Observe first-year and new ESL teachers and set instructional goals.
• Engage in research-based professional development and apply learned practices.
