Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for Kindergarten through 6th grade in Boston, Massachusetts. The position is an anticipated vacancy and may start as a Long-Term Substitute depending on vacancy timing.

The successful candidate will teach ESL to multilingual learners, collaborate with content teachers, and contribute to district goals of high achievement and closing gaps. The role includes coordinating ACCESS assessments and engaging families.

Responsibilities

• Provide ESL instruction to Multilingual Learners identified as English Learners.
• Collaborate with content teachers to align language development with core standards.
• Coordinate with instructional leadership to ensureELL supports and assessments.
• Assist with ACCESS administration and ELL program documentation.
• Organize ELL student transition meetings and support transitions out of ELL services.
• Plan lessons aligned with WIDA standards and adapt for varying proficiency levels.
