Job summary

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) in Reno is hiring an ESD Program Specialist 2 to support statewide program development, interpretation of laws, and contract management within the ESD Contracts Unit at the Reno EmployNV Career Hub.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and two years of professional experience; strong MS Office skills and capabilities in editing, proofreading, and PDF remediation are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences or related field with two years of professional experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program.
• Alternative: high school diploma with four years of professional experience as described; or one year as ESD Program Specialist I in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Participate in statewide program development and interpretation of federal and state laws and regulations.
• Develop and manage contracts, budgeting, and quality assurance for ESD programs.
• Ensure program and fiscal compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with Financial Management to ensure expenditures are allowable and within budget.
• Prepare reports and recommendations; develop and implement program performance standards.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to management and staff; respond to inquiries and requests for information.
