Job summary

Ocean Associates Inc. (OAI) seeks a scientific and technical professional to perform ESA and NEPA effects evaluations and support NMFS West Coast Region consultations on tribal hatchery programs.

The work includes drafting, editing, and reviewing NEPA and ESA sections, responding to comments, and ensuring compliance with NMFS formats and style guides; travel will be required for meetings and site visits. Start date as soon as possible; remote location with occasional on-site trainings in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fisheries/oceanography or related field, plus 1 year experience or combination totaling five (5) years.
• Extensive experience with NEPA/ESA documents for NMFS analyses of hatchery programs.
• Familiarity with hatchery effects on resources including water quality, species, socioeconomics, and environmental justice.
• Understanding NMFS requirements for sufficient NEPA or ESA documents.

Responsibilities

• Draft and complete NEPA and ESA effects documents across watersheds or hatchery programs for NMFS review and tribal/Co-manager input.
• Edit drafts of NEPA and ESA sections to prepare for review by NMFS, co-managers, and the public.
• Respond to comments on NEPA/ESA documents from internal NMFS reviews, co-managers, and the public.
