Job summary

Ocean Associates Inc. (OAI) seeks an Environmental Specialist to support NOAA NOS Office for Coastal Management in Silver Spring, MD. The role emphasizes NEPA/EA/EIS drafting, regulatory analysis, and interagency coordination.

Responsibilities include preparing environmental compliance documents and reviewing NEPA/ESA/MMPA requirements, with remote work and occasional in-person NOAA meetings in Silver Spring.

Qualifications

• Degree in marine science, oceanography, environmental policy or related field.
• Experience applying NEPA, ESA, MMPA in regulatory contexts.
• Experience drafting environmental compliance documents (EA/EIS).

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting NEPA documents including EA and EIS with scientific evaluation.
• Review compliance laws affecting NEPA process and consultations.
• Coordinate regulatory clearance packages and interagency consultations.
