Job summary

Hoffmann Lane Elementary School in Canyon Lake, TX is seeking a part-time instructional support specialist to tutor students and assist teachers in the classroom. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
• Texas Teaching Certificate is preferred.
• Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
• General Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Some experience working with students is preferred.
• Fingerprinting is required.
• Attend substitute teacher orientation.

Responsibilities

• Tutor and work with individual students or groups in assigned subject(s).
• Work with classroom teacher and/or campus administration to address areas of weakness as identified from STAAR/EOC testing, benchmark exams, and other measures.
• Maintain an orderly work area.
• Keep records of student progress (behavior, grades, attendance).
• Maintain strict student confidentiality.
• Keep supervisor informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Communicate with teachers regarding students’ progress and needs as requested by supervisor.
• Provide a positive, calm, and consistent learning environment.
• Communicate with students in a positive and encouraging way.
• Help keep administrative records and prepare required reports (timesheets).
• Uphold and enforce school rules and policies.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff.
• Be a positive role model for students.
• Support mission of school district.
