Job Title: ERP Project Manager
Location: Remote (Preference for candidates who can travel occasionally to Atmore, AL)
Contract Duration: 12–24 months (with potential for contract-to-hire conversion)
Reports To: Chief Information Officer (CIO)
Compensation: $115–$135/hour (1099)

Our client is launching a multi-phase ERP modernization initiative to consolidate and replace fragmented legacy systems. The new, cloud-based ERP platform will unify core business functions across Finance, HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance, Procurement, and Contract Management. The goal is to improve operational efficiency, enhance reporting and compliance, and support long-term scalability.
The client seeks an experienced ERP Project Manager to lead this initiative from planning and vendor selection through implementation and post-go-live adoption. This is a remote role with limited onsite requirements and potential for long-term employment based on project performance and organizational fit.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Program Leadership
- Lead all phases of the ERP project lifecycle using PMI-aligned best practices
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including internal staff and external vendors
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
- Serve as the primary liaison between project teams, department leaders, and executive sponsors
- Prepare and present regular updates to the project steering committee and Tribal Council
- Facilitate communication and ensure alignment across departments
Vendor Selection Leadership
- Design and execute the vendor selection strategy
- Lead RFI/RFP development, demo script creation, evaluation scoring, and final recommendations
- Coordinate vendor interviews and selection panel activities
Change Management & User Adoption
- Develop and implement a change adoption strategy for end users
- Support communication planning, training coordination, and SME engagement
- Work closely with vendors to align implementation with best practices and user readiness
Execution Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day implementation tasks and ensure alignment with project goals
- Monitor data integrity, compliance, and business continuity throughout rollout
- Document key decisions, lessons learned, and post-go-live transition plans
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT project management experience, including 3+ full-cycle ERP implementations
- Demonstrated experience leading vendor selection processes
- Strong background in change management and user adoption strategy
- ERP experience in tribal government, public sector, or regulated industries
- PMP certification required; Agile or hybrid delivery experience preferred
- Proficiency with platforms such as Workday, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or UKG
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in the public sector, especially with tribal government organizations
- Familiarity with existing systems: Great Plains, UKG, JazzHR, and Namely
- Ability to lead in low-maturity environments with limited OCM infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to balance project rigor with cultural sensitivity
Work Structure & Compensation
- This is a remote-first position with limited travel requirements
- Travel for major meetings or deployments will be reimbursed
- Contractors must provide their own equipment
- 1099 contract engagement
