Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Business Systems Lead – ERP & Business Applications to optimize the ERP environment and support multiple departments across manufacturing operations. You will translate business needs into technology solutions and develop robust reporting and analytics using SQL, Power BI, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years experience supporting ERP systems or business applications.
• Manufacturing industry experience is required.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction, reporting, and analytics.
• Understanding of core manufacturing processes: MRP, inventory, production planning, purchasing, order management or supply chain.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to improve processes and systems.
• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables and complex formulas.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary functional resource for the company's ERP system and related business applications across departments.
• Troubleshoot ERP and business application issues with IT, users, and vendors.
• Analyze workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and system optimization.
• Support manufacturing processes including production planning, inventory management, purchasing, order management, and finance.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, reports, dashboards, and other reporting solutions.
• Extract and analyze business data to support operational and executive decision-making.
• Develop KPIs and dashboards using SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Participate in ERP upgrades, enhancements, testing, implementations, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure data integrity, system reliability, and performance.
• Provide ERP training and create documentation and SOPs for end users.

Introduction

Our client is a well-established and growing precision manufacturing organization serving highly regulated, high-demand industries. They are seeking a Business Systems Lead – ERP & Business Applications to support and optimize their ERP environment, improve business processes, and develop reporting and analytics solutions that drive better decision-making.

This is a highly visible role that will partner with Operations, Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, Quality, Finance, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on ERP experience within a manufacturing environment, strong SQL capabilities, and the ability to translate business needs into practical technology and process improvements.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary functional resource for the company's ERP system and related business applications, providing day-to-day support across multiple departments
• Troubleshoot ERP and business application issues while partnering with IT, business users, and third‑party vendors to drive timely resolution
• Analyze business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, automation, and system optimization
• Support manufacturing processes including production planning, inventory management, purchasing, order management, supply chain, and financial operations
• Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL queries, reports, dashboards, and other reporting solutions
• Extract and analyze business data to support operational and executive decision-making
• Develop KPIs and dashboards using SQL, Excel, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools
• Participate in ERP upgrades, enhancements, testing, implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure data integrity, system reliability, and effective system performance
• Provide ERP training and support to end users and create documentation, SOPs, and training materials
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to identify system improvements and translate business requirements into actionable solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must‑have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered.

• 3–7+ years of experience supporting ERP systems, business applications, or business systems analysis
• Manufacturing industry experience is required, with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and workflows
• Strong SQL skills, including writing queries, extracting data, analyzing information, and developing reports
• Understanding of core manufacturing processes such as MRP, inventory, production planning, purchasing, order management, or supply chain
• Experience partnering with cross‑functional business teams to improve processes and systems
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, and complex formulas
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

Nice‑to‑have skills that would make a candidate more competitive but are not required.

• Experience with a major ERP platform such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Plex, or similar
• Experience with Power BI, SSRS, or other business intelligence/reporting tools
• Experience developing manufacturing KPIs, dashboards, and operational reporting
• Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, integrations, or system optimization initiatives
• Experience with EDI, APIs, or other system integrations
• Experience working in a multi‑site manufacturing environment
• Experience creating process documentation, SOPs, and end‑user training materials
