Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of experience in construction site inspections.
• DEQ Dual Inspector (Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater) certification preferred or to be obtained within one year.
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction projects to enforce erosion control, stormwater management, Chesapeake Bay, and related codes and regulations.
• Examine methods and materials to ensure compliance with codes and approved plans; prepare inspection reports.
• Review plans, specifications, and drawings for code compliance; communicate with contractors, property owners, and engineers.
• Investigate complaints, issue notices of violation, and perform follow-up inspections and site visits for compliance and court appearances when required.
• Maintain accurate records, communicate with State and Federal agencies, and attend pre-construction/plan review meetings.
• Assist with building inspections as needed.
