Syntax Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-regarded regional law firm to add an experienced ERISA/Employee Benefits Associate Attorney to their team in Chicago.
About the Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable attorney with a strong background in ERISA tax and employee benefit plans to provide expert counsel on retirement plan design, compliance, and ESOP transactions. You’ll work closely with clients to navigate the complexities and tax implications of benefit plans, while collaborating with other attorneys on cross-disciplinary matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise clients on ERISA compliance and tax aspects of employee benefit and retirement plans.
Assist with the design, implementation, and administration of qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and executive compensation arrangements.
Provide legal guidance on ESOP transactions, including structuring, compliance, and operations.
Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex ERISA and employee benefits issues.
Draft plan documents, amendments, and other related legal materials.
Work collaboratively with colleagues on matters intersecting with employee benefits.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
At least 3 years of experience focusing on ERISA, employee benefits, and related tax issues.
Solid understanding of ERISA, IRS, and DOL regulations.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
