BluePearl Pet Hospital in Port Washington, WI is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency department. This role offers a fast-paced environment to apply anesthesia, radiography, and critical care skills with a team of veterinary professionals.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician you will monitor anesthesia, triage cases, perform digital radiography, and interpret vital signs.

Qualifications

• Experienced Veterinary Technician in emergency setting.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and patient recovery.
• Comfort with radiography and critical care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
