Louisiana State University is seeking Veterinary Technician 1, 2, or 3 for the Small Animal Emergency Service (SA-ER) and ICU teams. The role supports triage, stabilization, anesthesia recovery, and ongoing intensive care for emergent and critically ill patients in a teaching hospital.

Positions are fixed-term wages with rotating shifts, including holiday and weekend duties. Requires RVT licensure (LA) and a degree as noted; prior emergency experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree OR an associate's degree in veterinary technology and be actively licensed as a RVT in Louisiana.
• Preferred: Louisiana RVT licensure and 1 year of related experience.
• Role requires knowledge of veterinary nursing care, emergency and critical care procedures.

Responsabilités

• Assist with advanced veterinary nursing care for emergency, critically ill, and hospitalized patients.
• Administer medications and treatments; place IV catheters and perform venipuncture.
• Monitor life-support equipment and post-surgical patients; maintain accurate medical records.
• Assist with emergency admissions, assessments, stabilizations, and transfers to ICU or specialty services.
• Maintain patient census records and ensure accurate charges and hospitalization fees.
• Provide coverage including holidays, nights, weekends, and emergencies.
• Mentor and train veterinary students, interns, residents, and staff.
