Job summary

Louisiana State University’s veterinary program seeks a Veterinary Technician 1–3 to provide technical support in the Food Animal Department and Large Animal Hospital. Responsibilities include assisting clinicians and students, handling livestock, and maintaining medical records in a fast-paced emergency/after-hours setting.

The role requires a degree (Bachelor’s or Associate’s) with RVT licensure in Louisiana and willingness to participate in on-call shifts to ensure high-quality patient care

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in veterinary technology with RVT license.
• Active RVT license with Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine required (minimum).
• Preferred: RVT license plus 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day operations in the Food Animal Department and Large Animal Hospital.
• Assist with client communication, collect patient information, monitor patients, and maintain medical records.
• Support teaching activities for veterinary students and staff.
• Maintain equipment and hospital areas, including cleaning and biosecurity procedures.
• Provide holiday, weekend, and on-call emergency coverage as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
