Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be in the heart of the action from day one, supporting the team, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time.

You’ll assist with triage, treatments, and diagnostics, working alongside credentialed technicians and veterinarians to ensure high-quality patient care. Training paths lead to anesthesia support and advanced duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation with veterinarians and techs.
• Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medications.
• Support during outpatient or inpatient care and rounds.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training.
• Grow into advanced roles via training pathways.
