Job summary

Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic, Inc. in Maryland seeks a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced ER team providing round-the-clock care.

You will assess, stabilize, and treat emergency patients, including anesthesia, imaging, and in-house lab work, under veterinarian supervision. The role offers flexible shifts (various day/evening/night blocks), opportunities for RVT credentials, and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Nurse critically ill and emergency patients.
• Able to think critically, problem solve, and follow DVM orders.
• Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn veterinary software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with professionalism.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, clients and the public.
• Knowledge of veterinary instruments, materials and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• English language speaking, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients on arrival and prioritize by vitals.
• Initiate stabilization treatments per veterinarian orders.
• Participate in development and implementation of treatment plans.
• Provide high quality care through timely monitoring and treatments.
• Collect and analyze blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in-house.
• Administer anesthetic drugs and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Produce radiographs with digital equipment.
• Place feeding tubes for nutrition.
• Provide transfusions of blood products as needed.
• Calculate drug dosages and administer as directed.
• Lavage and bandage wounds and lacerations.
• Care for post-surgical and ICU cases.
• Provide outstanding customer service during triage and history gathering.
