Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency & Nursing Veterinary Technician - Contingent (PRN) to join our fast-paced ER and support our clinical team across a wide range of critical cases. You’ll thrive on moving between tasks, prioritizing patients, and collaborating with doctors and nurses to deliver high-quality care.

This role requires prior veterinary experience, preferred state-registered tech license, and strong skills in calculations, client communication, and anesthesia monitoring.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
