Job summary

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Room (ER) Technician to assist nursing staff under RN supervision. You will provide patient care, respond to call lights, prepare meals, perform EKGs, and help orient patients and families to the hospital environment.

This part-time role is 0.9 FTE (36 hours/week) with a 12-hour evening shift (11:00am–11:00pm) and weekend/holiday rotation. A strong commitment to safety, teamwork and patient-focused service is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months patient care experience preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Mandatory Reporter.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.
• Reading, writing and comprehension of English.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, personal patient care under RN supervision.
• Respond to call lights quickly and assist in providing care.
• Prepare food for patients and perform EKGs.
• Transport patients and ensure safety and comfort.
• Maintain clean patient rooms and report equipment issues.
