Job summary

Cook County Health & Hospitals System at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital seeks an Emergency Room Technician II to assist and augment RNs in emergency medicine, with a night shift from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Position requires EMT-B or high school diploma, CPR and ACLS certifications, and five years of direct patient care in ED or pre-hospital settings. Duties include vital signs, specimen handling, infection control and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED or EMT-B in Illinois (with proof).
• CPR certification is required at time of interview.
• ACLS certification is required at time of interview.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate patient care under supervision of registered nurses and physicians.
• Performs patient care tasks including hygiene, ambulation, nutrition and elimination.
• Records vitals, prepares requisitions, labels specimens, and transports items as needed.
• Maintains cleanliness and privacy; communicates observations to the team.
