Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks an Emergency Room Technician to support front-line patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with mobility, vitals, and daily activities to help patients move through their care journey.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, and at least one year of patient care experience, with SC CNA or SC EMT certification and BLS. Join a team that responds when patients need us most.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of patient care experience in a healthcare facility or experience as a CNA required.
• Current SC CNA registration OR SC EMT certification required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands‑on care to patients within the scope of training and certification.
• Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, walking, and activities of daily living.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable patient environment.
• Change bed linens and assist with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
• Serve and collect meal trays and provide between‑meal nourishment as needed.
• Obtain and record temperatures and vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
• Support nurses and the emergency care team with a variety of patient care activities.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nurses, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
