UofL Health in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, is seeking an Emergency Department Technician/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical support under the RN, including phlebotomy, EKG, patient transport, and discharge assistance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; CNA, CMA, or EMT training preferred; BLS certification is required. Candidates should be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced ED, and committed to patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or nursing students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course (preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Measures and documents intake/outtake, heights, weights and vital signs.
  • Performs venipuncture and 12-lead EKG under RN direction.
  • Transports patients, lab work, specimens and blood.
  • Updates patient files and hospital billing systems; ensures accurate signatures for release of information.
  • Operates equipment safely (beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.) and assists with admissions/discharges.
  • Assists in orientation of new employees and communicates with team using established protocols.
