Job summary

UofL Health in Shepherdsville, KY is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to assist in patient care under RN supervision. The role includes clerical duties, patient transport, phlebotomy, EKGs, and trauma support.

You will set up charts, document vital signs, assist with procedures, manage equipment, and ensure infection control. A High School diploma and BLS are required; healthcare training programs are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED/equivalent is required.
• Completion of Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or Nursing Students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required by AHA.
• Nursing students with Fundamentals of Nursing course are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measures intake/output, vital signs, heights and weights.
• Performs venipuncture and 12-lead EKG testing under RN direction.
• Transports patients, lab specimens, and equipment as needed.
• Prepares admission/discharge charts and updates hospital records.
• Assists with wound care, splinting, and orthopedic patient care.
• Assists physicians with procedure setups including sterile fields.
• Performs safety checks on equipment and maintains infection control practices.
• Responds to lifesaving situations and ensures HIPAA compliance.
