Job summary

Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ, seeks an ED Tech to assist in patient care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of the RN or Charge Nurse.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, optional CNA certification, BLS within 30 days, knowledge of medical terminology, and at least six months in acute care. A BVP certificate within 6 months is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• Possess knowledge of Medical terminology.
• Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• The ED Tech in the Emergency Room assists with patient care based on individual patient needs under supervision.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment and works under the direction of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
