Job summary

Holy Cross in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a full-time ECG Technician for night shift (7p–7a). You will perform quality ECG studies, verify orders, ensure accurate patient demographics, and transmit data to the hospital data management system.

The role requires Paramedic/EMT experience or certification, willingness to cross-train as Unit Secretary, and IV start ability, along with computer skills. ACLS/BLS/PALS preferred; growth and patient-centered care are emphasized.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Paramedic and/or EMT certification preferred.
• Willingness to cross-train as Unit Secretary.
• Previous Paramedic/EMT experience with IVs required.

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for performing a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer.
• Acquires ECG assuring all patient demographics are entered and correct.
• Edits ECG s (ie correct patient s name, MR#, room #).
• Transmits from the ECG cart to the data management system.
• Identifies high priority rhythms and complexes and delivers ECG to ED MD for interpretation
• Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient s needs.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of growth and development.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify high priority patients to the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Monitors the waiting room and identifies patient in need for re-assessment by the triagenurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Recognizes and responds to monitor alarms and/or changes in patient cardiac rhythm, and assures that RN or charge nurse is notified and aware.

Minimum Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED is required
• Certificate from Paramedic and/or EMT School is preferred.
• Willingness to cross train as Unit Secretary
• Previous experience working as a Paramedic and/or EMT is required. Experience with starting IVs is necessary
• Computer experience

Licensures/Certifications:

• Paramedic and/or ER Tech License preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS require
